Shrimp Bread

Here is a tasty tidbit. It is called shrimp bread. At first you would not think the shrimp and bread would go very well together. The shrimp and bread actually harmonize together to create a wonderful bread that has a mild flavor of the shrimp we love here in America. This bread goes great with many seafood dishes. Serve the shrimp bread with some Sauvignon Blanc white wine along with your seafood dish and you have a perfect meal for any special occasion. Take the time and try the bread. You will not be disappointed. My bet is it will become one of your favorites in a very short time.

Ingredients:

1 lb Alaskan Shrimp, peeled and deveined
1/2 cup Chicken Stock
1 medium White Onion, chopped
1 French Bread loaf
1 cup Cheddar Cheese, shredded
Cajun Seasoning, to taste
pinch of Paprika

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350F. Cut shrimp into small 1/2 inch pieces. Sauté onions in chicken stock over medium heat for about 5 minutes, stir-fry shrimp in briefly. Cut French bread loaf in half, lengthwise. Take the top half and scrape out the center, so it looks like a boat. Spread the crumbs on a cookie sheet. Toast these crumbs and the hollow loaf until browned. Combine crumbs with a pinch of Cajun seasoning, paprika, sautéed shrimp and onions; mix thoroughly. Stuff mixture into hollowed half of loaf and spread cheese over the top. Bake for 3-5 minutes or until cheese is melted. Serves 6.
