- 1 pound rib eye steak, slightly frozen
- 1 onion, sliced
- Mushrooms, sliced (optional)
- Bell peppers, sliced (optional)
- 8 slices provolone cheese
- 4 hoagie rolls
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Optional toppings:
- Mayo
- Mustard
- Lettuce
- Tomatoes
- Hot sauce
- Ketchup
- Steak sauce
Instructions
- Slice slightly frozen steak very thinly. Optionally, you may ask the butcher to slice the meat for you.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet and add onions and bell peppers. Cook, stirring frequently, until onions are translucent and peppers are softened. Add mushrooms and cook for further 2 minutes.
- Add sliced steak to pan and cook, stirring, until meat turns gray.
- When the steak is done, place the cheese slices on top of the meat and heat until cheese is well melted.
- If desired, toast rolls while cheese is melting.
- Serve in rolls with any desired optional toppings.
